Real Weddings: Laura and Jason's Las Vegas Wedding

After a sensational surprise proposal at the grand canyon, it was the perfect destination for this couple to elope to for their Las Vegas Wedding. Our Real Weddings feature tells all...

Although Laura and Jason had met 7 years previously it was a few years later that they both found themselves single at their local pub and hit it off straight away.

A special home-made book for a dramatic proposal 

It was on holiday in Las Vegas that the couple took a tour of the Grand Canyon when Jason presented Laura with a book he'd made. Inspired by her favourite film, 'The Little Mermaid', Jason had spent time whilst Laura was at work creating and painting a personalised 'proposal book'.

They were sat at the edge admiring the stunning scenery when "he gave me the book with a gorgeous black diamond ring in the last page." said Laura.

"I was so surprised and burst out into tears pretty much straight away, of course, I said yes!"

When you find the one, you just know

Laura visited the WED2B bridal shop in Southampton a few times and added that "loved the experience, there were so many wonderful dresses and all the staff made me feel so welcome."

"Every experience was perfect, all the staff that work there are very knowledgeable and so friendly. The store was always clean and tidy and extremely easy to look through the dresses"

Although it was still a year before the wedding date, Laura went ahead and bought the 'Rosalie' dress by Anna Sorrano. The detail and fit were simply perfect, "as soon as I put it on I knew that was the one for me." said Laura.

For an extra boost, Laura added an underskirt and gorgeous veil, "it made me feel even more like a princess and a real bride" said Laura.

Time to elope for their Las Vegas Wedding

From wonderful memories of that surprise proposal, eloping back to the Nevada desert for their Las Vegas Wedding was the only choice for this couple.

On a beautifully warm October day, they travelled to 'The Valley of Fire' for an intimate ceremony and lots of photographs in the stunning desert scenery.

After the ceremony, the couple decided to embrace the culture and enjoyed an experience at the gun range together!

Home celebrations

With no family at the Las Vegas Wedding, Laura and Jason held a reception party for family and friends in Southampton the following month. Many traditional wedding elements featured, including bridesmaids, cutting the cake and first dance.
