An informal seaside wedding was the perfect setting for this salsa dancing couple. Our WED2B Real Weddings Buckinghamshire feature reveals more:

Seaside Wedding Keoni and Mauro are both salsa dancers, and met at a salsa party at a venue where Keoni used to teach. “Mauro was there to perform his new show,” she says. Wed2b Real Bride

Mauro proposed at a beautiful clifftop location in Mallorca, when the couple were on holiday. “We were visiting a friend who lived there,” says Keoni. “He had been driving us to a few different sights and, after some lunch, we started to head up some windy roads. I began to feel a bit car sick so when we stopped I wasn’t too keen on going for a walk! Mauro and his friend insisted that I really didn’t want to miss this stop so, reluctantly, I got out of the car. We walked to the Son Marroig monument on a cliffside with an absolutely beautiful back drop of the sea and sunshine. Then Mauro got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It really was a perfect setting, safe to say I didn’t feel car sick anymore!”

Marrying in Mallorca

The couple went back to the island a few months later to find a wedding venue. “We had decided we loved the idea of a small intimate wedding by the sea,” says Keoni. “We found a beautiful cliffside terrace restaurant called La Gran Tortuga in Pageura, Calva. As soon as we walked down the steps onto the terrace and saw the view we knew we wanted it.”

Dress shopping…

“I had been to a few small boutique stores before visiting WED2B and I wasn’t sure what to expect but the experience was great. I had my mum and bridesmaids with me and the staff were excellent. They helped with trying on dresses and grabbing different sizes.”

Wedding Dress - Sahira

Keoni chose Sahira from the Heidi Hudson collection. “I was originally looking for a dress with a low back but fell in love with this one because of its unique back detail,” she says. “The lace and pearls were beautiful and it was perfect for a seaside wedding. I felt amazing in it and I’m still trying to figure out when I can wear it again!”

Spanish sunshine

By the time of the wedding Mauro and Keoni were living in Mallorca. “Most of our guests came for a few days to have a holiday so it was great to see everyone and catch up,” she says. “The night before the wedding we had a lovely live acoustic night at our hotel where we had a barbecue and enjoyed singing along with the guitarist.”

The big day

On the day the guests met at a nearby hotel before walking to the venue for a champagne reception. Keoni’s brother walked her down the aisle and there were readings from friends. Singer Lucy Kuy, a friend of the bride’s, also sang for the newlyweds. “The local celebrant, Glynis German, added some fantastic humour to the service,” says Keoni. “One of our favourite songs was played at the end of the ceremony and everyone got up to dance.”

After glasses of sangria everyone sat down for the wedding breakfast as the sun was setting. “We had music and a small dance area but it was a beautifully relaxed evening,” says Keoni. There was a sea theme and decorations were turquoise with a hint of pink. Keoni created all of the name cards and menus herself and decorated them with silver turtles, starfish and turquoise ribbon. On the tables there were pink and white flowers and candles in coloured glass holders. “We didn’t need a great deal of decoration as the venue was so lovely,” she says. “My favourite moment was dancing the Cha Cha with Mauro after the ceremony – not so easy in a wedding dress but it was perfect!”
