A stylish burgundy and gold wedding theme was the backdrop to this couple’s special day. Our WED2B Real Weddings feature reveals more…

Sophie and Zac met six years ago at her best friend’s surprise engagement. “Later Zac proposed in my hometown of Bath, when we were at the circus,” says Sophie. “I was totally taken by surprise and I was over the moon!”

Shopping for the dress

“I bought my dress from WED2B’s Bristol store,” says Sophie. “As soon as I saw the Megan design I knew it was the one. I loved the lace detail and also the way it accentuated my curves. My experience was amazing and the dress was such a great price too.”

The perfect venue for a gold wedding theme

The couple married in the orangery at Tortworth Court in Gloucestershire on 29th December 2019. “We found the venue on Pinterest and at first I thought it looked so good that it couldn’t have been local or even in this country,” says Sophie. “Luckily it wasn't far away at all and it was beautiful.”

The big day

“We had the best band - The Distractions - performing all day,” says Sophie. “They sang as I walked down the aisle with my dad, through the drinks reception and also into the night. The weather was chilly (as expected in December) but dry and crisp, so absolutely perfect! We got some lovely outdoor photos.”

Doughnuts and minimal decor

“We left all the details quite minimal, as the venue was so stunning it didn’t need any more,” says Sophie. “We had a burgundy and gold wedding theme and there was also a mountain of Krispy Kreme doughnuts instead of a cake!”

Happy memories

“My most memorable moments included dancing the night away with all of the people I love the most,” says Sophie. “Also making this big commitment in front of our loved ones and marrying my best friend.”

My top tips…

“Take in every second, it goes so fast,” says Sophie. “Don’t spend too much time on the little details either, people often don’t notice them!”
