2019 Wedding Trends: We reveal the key looks for the New Year…
With not one but two royal weddings to enjoy, 2018 was a great year for all things wedding. So, what does 2019 have in store? Our expert stylists have rounded up some of the key 2019 wedding trends from this season’s catwalks and you’ll be pleased to know there’s plenty of gorgeousness to look forward to. Think feminine florals, beautiful ball gown skirts and, of course, plenty of sparkle! Read on for a sneak preview of the 2019 wedding trends to watch out for…
The Meghan effect
Simple, classic wedding gowns are making a big come back, all thanks to Miss Markle and her striking, understated bateau-neckline and sleek contemporary skirt. It’s a style that can look both timeless and modern, a winning combination. Our Dawson dress (above), with its elegant satin skirt, is a super-wearable way to get this look. The clean lines of the ball gown skirt are perfectly complemented by the subtle lace on the bodice. Take a tip from Meghan and pair it with a striking cathedral-length veil too. For more pared-back styles in a range of silhouettes, check out Tara, Dolce and Francine too.
It’s all in the details, and this year’s stand out detail is the bow, which has been dotted all over the new season's designs. We think elegant Delancey, with it’s luxurious back bow, is the perfect way to wear this look. Did you know the bow is also detachable, so you can remove it for the evening and add a sparkly Estella belt instead?
As an antidote to royal minimalism, there were also plenty of florals and appliqués on the catwalks too. Lace has always been a bridal favourite but for 2019 expect to see more luxurious lace featuring wildflowers, blooming accents and bold embroidery, as well as unusual textures, such as 3D appliqué lace. Mackenzie is the perfect example, with its corded lace appliqués embellished with subtle clear sequins. It also hits the nail on the head when it comes to another of our key 2019 wedding trends…
Mackenzie will be available in stores early 2019, but if you can't wait, take a look at dress Lucy!
We love a dress with elegant sleeves and it seems the bridal catwalks do too! Sleeves featuring beautiful lace appliqués are super stunning and also very versatile, as they’re ideal if you want extra coverage or your upper arms are not to your favourite area. We have lots of designs with sleeves, but take a look at sexy Oriana and enchanting Venice to get you started.
Modern brides are proving to be more fashion forward than ever before, with slinky silhouettes and wow factor capes becoming increasingly popular. If you really want to make an entrance our glamorous Delevigne cape should be on your hit list. With its delicate lace shoulders and floor-length tulle it’s the perfect way to make a statement!
Big and beautiful ball gowns
You’ll also be pleased to hear that, among all the brand new 2019 wedding trends, bridal designers haven’t forgotten how fabulous a ball gown skirt is. It’s a shape that suits all figures, so we were very happy to see that ball gowns are back - and bigger than ever! If this is the look for you then you’ll love Rochelle. The fun and bouncy waterfall skirt captures all the princess glamour you could want. And, for even more volume, don’t forget to double up with a couple of underskirts too!
Stars in her eyes
Finally, dresses featuring oodles of celestial star and moon prints continue to be big news. If you’re not quite ready for yards of fabric that twinkle like the night’s sky, why not channel this trend with twinkling accessories instead? Our Millenia and Leonie belts have enough sparkle to keep even the most avid stargazer happy!
